THROUGH THE CLOUDS

-Cameron Brownley, DC

The best sunrises to be experienced seem to occur after the darkest of nights. I remember one such morning – my sister prodded me asking, “Are you sure we are going to see the sun?” I smiled and assured her, trusting a feeling inside.

Light needs contrast to create the beautiful, moving canvas of the sky. Without the clouds – and rain – there is nothing for the Light to grab onto. But with the clouds and the rain, we get remarkable views such as cotton white clouds, mist-covered mountains, sparkling rainbows, and yes, even incredible sunrises.

The night is the darkest before the dawn of a new day. This is especially so when the sky is overcast of course. This was why my sister was so hesitant as she sat next to me during those early morning hours. With so many clouds blocking out the sky, it was a reasonable response to doubt the occurrence of a beautiful view. And yet, for a feeling beyond reason – something beyond words, time, and space – I knew that something big was coming.

We sat together in the cool sand and watched as the black turned to deep purple. Then the sky began to brighten into violet-magenta. We smiled as red fluffy pinks came into view with shades of blue behind. We watched the shorebirds fly out for their morning meal and the wind picked up ever so slightly. Looking behind us, the island trees vibrated with vibrant green in the new light. Ultimately, the golden, streaming glow of the sun refracting through the clouds. It was glorious.

In many ways, this was the first sunrise I had ever seen. That day has given me a Truth, one that I have anchored to. On the day I “woke up” I found a peace and trust in Spirit that has remained with me to this day.

I felt it then only a fraction of what I do now. I have learned to listen to it, resonate with it, harmonize with it, create with it, love it, and understand it (though I am still learning). The Light is the one constant of our life. On a physical plane where ever thing is constantly changing, the Light is the only aspect of our reality we can count on. Also, we are a reflection of that Light.

We are that sunrise.
Our time is Now,
To shift the collective consciousness into a new reality.

Eckhart Tolle says that, “Some changes look negative on the surface but you will soon realize that space is being created in your life for something new to emerge.” It’s all about perspective. If we choose to limit what we see to our physical senses, then we will always fall victim to the changing tides of an impermanent reality. But if we simply notice each change as an opportunity, watching Light consistently permeate all, then we experience life with different eyes. We emerge into the freedom that every human Soul yearns for.

My life, up until that glorious sunrise, had been stuck in a constant state of negativity and victimhood. I always found a way to make an excuse and project negative emotions in a cyclic manner. It was no wonder that I had stayed stuck for so long in patterns of shame, self-doubt, perfectionism, and most of all, fear.

I feared what people thought about me, how they perceived me. Was I deserving? Was I impressive? Was I all they expected and more? For years, these questions ran through my mind, plaguing me and stealing my power and joy. But on that fateful day, I let it all go. Freedom.

It starts with a decision – which is always the hardest part. For the decision is to flip the switch and declare, “No, this is not a bad thing. This is an opportunity.” For growth, for new experiences, and most of all, for Light.

If we have an expectation of what it is going to look like, surely we will be disappointed. But, if we make the decision to see through all experiences – just as the sun bursts through the clouds – then there is no stopping where we can go and what we can do.

A Rock
A rock is a rock is a rock,
It most definitely is not a sock,
But push it to change a variety of ways,
The rock is a rock is a rock.

Now what about Infinite Flow,
A Consciousness ready to glow,
Through darkness and pain,
Inevitable gain,
A Light is a Light is a Light.

So now we have a rock and a Light,
And our eyes begin to see,
A ripple of dark, emerging behind,
A rock set glow by a Light.

What about a paper or glass?
You look to the wall, a mass,
Form changes and bends,
Infinite ends,
A rock or a paper or glass.

Perhaps now you are beginning to See?
That form changes apparently,
A rock paper or glass,
But always, always alas,
A Light is a Light is a Light.

Maybe it is all the same,
Through forms, the Light of it All,
A Paper and Glass,
The Light, shadow, and mass,
And a rock that’s a Rock.

The sun rises every day and sets every night. The trees vibrate and resonate with this Light. The animals are simply in the Now. Rocks and sand are vessels for Consciousness just the same.

The Light of Consciousness, is the only constant in our life. Apparently, humans are the only Beings that have seemed to have forgotten.

Every day the sky presents beauty. Whether through contrasting clouds, clear blue, or countless other varieties of expression, there is beauty to behold.

Follow the Light that leads to the Consciousness of all creation – and know that you are never truly alone.
